‘Equal Partnership’ in New ‘Durham Region Health’ System Sought

The Friends and representatives of the Medical Staff or the AP Hospital called on Health Minister Hoskins to implement a ‘full and equal’ partnership in the creation of a new Durham Region Health system.

‘We emphatically do not want the same relationship with Lakeridge Health that we had with Rouge Valley Centenary’ a recent letter states.

Specifically, they call for the election of a new board for a Durham Region Health body to draft a new set of bylaws for a Durham Region Health governance framework. Representation  on the new Board would reflect the portion of citizens living within the catchment area of APH. This is currently about 40% of Durham Region.

The June 27 letter was a response to Hoskins’ letter of May 13.

The groups offered to meet with the Minister to discuss ‘these urgent matters’ at his convenience.
